2015 Oktoberfest rocks
October 19, 2015
The dining room at Predator Ridge Golf Course was the scene of a rollicking celebration in the evening of Monday, October 19 as seventy-five locals converged on the popular golf resort to celebrate the 2015 renewal of the annual Oktoberfest there.
The evening started with a mixer followed by a delicious Germanic style meal, courtesy of Jeremy, head chef of the Ridge restaurant at Predator. The fare included traditional German Ham Hocks and an array of savory sausages, roasted vegetable medley, apple strudel and other delicacies associated with the annual celebration.
Before and after dinner music was provided by Andrew Johns, the versatile local musician and entertainer who claims to be a “one man show” as opposed to the “one man band” moniker more commonly hung on solo acts, featuring, unlike his, strapped on banjos and cymbals pinned to the ears of the performer. After being treated to his Victor Borga, Elton John and Billy Joel portrayals it is difficult indeed to down play the talent of Mr. Johns.
Silent and decidedly not silent auctions followed the evening meal with all proceeds from the evening’s activities going to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity who will use the dollars generated to help fulfill their mandate of” Building Homes and Hope” here in Vernon. Chairman of the Habitat committee, Glory Westwell, took the mike to close the evening thanking Predator Ridge, Auction participants, Andrew Johns, “one man show,’” auctioneer Wayne Penner and Jeff Harder of ExNihilo Wineries who provided the excellent wine for the evening.

Another case of “rose among the thorns,” Cheryl Jackson easily outshone her dinner companions (LtoR) Barry Jackson, Jim Popovich and Jim Lumsden.
Brad and Stacy Donison, resplendent in traditional Bavarian dress were caught tripping the light fantastic with A.J. Eathorne as the three revelers left the 2015 Oktoberfest at Predator Ridge on October 19.
